Our classes are LIVE and Interactive. Registered students see their same teacher and dance every week with the same friends online. We still find ways to build connections and progress in our dance curriculum similar to what we would do in our typical in-person studio classes.

Frequently Asked Questions about our Virtual Class Option:
Should my dancer wear his/her dance clothes?
YES, we want our students feeling like they are in a real dance class. Put on their tights, leotards, and shoes and get them all excited to take class; our regular dress code applies and can be found HERE. Plus it helps them focus more!
Is parent participation needed for all classes?
Parent/Caregiver participation is required for your child ages 2-3 and parent supervision is required for your child if they are 4 years old in our Little Learner Classes (ages 2-4). It is recommended to keep them focused and engaged. Please stay close by.
Parents do not have to participate or supervise for our Pre-Ballet/Ballet & Jazz/Hip-Hop classes ages 5 and older. We will need your assistance getting the dancer setup with technology on Zoom, but you do not have to participate.
Why are virtual classes shorter than studio classes?
In the studio we allow time for our students to travel across the floor, wait their turn for leaps, gallops, and other traveling dance movements. In a virtual class we will not spend a lot of time taking turns as they will try the movements on their own a multitude of times! All virtual classes will be 40 minutes.
Can you explain the technology? Will the instructor be able to see my child?
Yes! That is the benefit of our virtual classes and how they differ from other studios where you may tune in live to an in-person class with dancers who are dancing in the background. Our virtual classes are live and interactive. We can see you and you can see us. We use the popular zoom platform so we can talk with your child, give individual corrections, re-focus them, and use their own creativity to create choreography. Please download beforehand and make sure you are running the latest version. Please check for updates before class. Sometimes the updates can take 10-15 minutes. Usually any technical issues are due to an update that was needed with your personal computer or zoom. Please close all other browsers on your computer. Please check in advance that your speaker and camera both work. It will not be necessary to mute your speaker on your computer unless you have other unwanted noises happening in the background.
How Do I Access my Class?
We recommend you download Zoom for your mobile device, tablet, or computer before your first class. You will not need to create a Zoom login and you will not need to pay for a Zoom account. After you have registered for class, you will receive your Zoom access information via email and prior to your class start time. Please ensure you have listed the correct email. We will also list your zoom class link here on this page.... please note that instructors will login 5 minutes prior to the start of class and will only let students in the call that have registered.
Do we need a lot of space?
Nope! Just enough room for your dancer to "spread their wings" & twirl. Your CDC instructor will be teaching from her home too. Please do your best to give your dancer an open space to move around. Move the coffee table, dance in the kitchen, or front of the TV to put the class on the big screen....whatever works! Dancing on carpet is fine, hard wood floors are not necessary. Pre-Ballet/Ballet Dancers will need a chair or a surface to use as their ballet barre. We want our dancers to stay focused and be able to ask questions and interact with our instructor so please make sure they are in a room that is somewhat free of distraction and noise.
What if I need to Cancel My Class?
If you need to cancel/reschedule your class, you must email info@CarolinaDanceCollaborative. If you signed up for a drop in class then you must email us one hour before your class start time. Missed classes can also be made up in-person and visa versa. All classes must be used within the session. All sales final, there are no refunds for virtual classes.
