Meet Our Workshop Leaders:
Paige MaxwellPaige works with Able SC as a Pre-Employment Transition Services Coordinator and empowers her students with disabilities to embrace their independence and capabilities. She's a dancer, certified yoga instructor, and a lover of seeing people use their fullest potential. Paige has her BA in Dance Performance and Choreography with a Masters in Exceptional Special Education. She is an advocate for her students and has found a way to connect her love of dance and movement with the Special Education world. She teaches disability specific dance classes with CDC and encourages inclusion in all her ongoing projects.

Alyson DixonCo-founder of CDC and CDC's Director of Education, Alyson received her BA in Dance Education as well as Postgraduate Diploma in Community Dance from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Alyson has been working in dance education for the past 7 years and working with individuals with disabilities for over 5 years. Her teaching and curriculum development spans all of CDC's programming which means she teaches our children, adult, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. She develops content to challenge and excite students while simultaneously looking for every student to succeed.

Session 1 October 20th
- Greeting
- Laying the Foundation: General Disability Awareness and Interacting with Individuals with disabilities
- What to Expect: Behaviors Commonly Seen and How to Address them in the Dance Classroom
- Setting Up a Lesson
- Move Through an adaptive lesson
Session 2 January 19th
- Review and apply homework to lesson about to observe
- Observe and Participate in Connect; our weekly class for individuals with disabilties
- What worked, What did not work: Discussion of lesson content and accommodations
- Setting Up homework; develop your own lesson to teach part of next time
Session 3, March 23rd
- Review answer questions
- Practice Makes Perfect: teach a part of your lesson to the group and receive feedback on content and delivery.
- Hot To: How to start your own class for individuals with disabilties. How to seamlessly incorperate accommodations.
- Conclusion
