Giving Tuesday or (#GivingTuesday) is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year it falls on December 3rd, 2019. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Last year in 2018, 130 countries participated and over $4 million was raised.
It is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media campaigns, donations, and collaboration. It is a way to start off the generous holiday season by giving back to organizations and causes that you find valuable in your community.
Our Hashtag and Campaign to follow on social media is #GivingDanceDay. Follow on our social media outlets (instagram, facebook, and twitter) to hear how we are making a difference in the lives of our students, volunteers, and donors.
Here’s how you can help:
Like, share, retweet, and regram our posts so that we can reach a wider audience. Even better if you add your own call for others to take notice of the campaign!
Participate in #UNselfie by writing our organization's name on a sheet of paper and saying why you support CDC's #GivingDanceDay. Don't forget to write the hashtags #GivingDanceDay and #GivingTuesday and take a picture of yourself to post. You can find an example HERE.
Create your own short video, explaining what #GivingDanceDay means to you! Be sure to share it with the hashtag #GivingDanceDay and #GivingTuesday, and link to our facebook GivingTuesday Donation page.
Make a donation–of any size! Whether it’s a one-time gift or a monthly donation, every gift helps us provide classes, workshops, educational opportunities, and dance accessibility as a form of therapy and self expression to our community.
Give long-term inspiration, movement, and joy this holiday season. Give Dance Day!
