Class Description

Summer Little Learners I (Ages 2-3) & II (Ages 3-4): This 45-minute class combines the elements of creative movement, ballet, and tumbling into one fun and exciting class. Students will learn basic floor tumbling techniques, coordination, strength, flexibility, and rhythm as they explore how to move in and through space with their peers. 

Summer Pre-Ballet (Ages 5-8): This class will have an emphasis on body placement, proper technique, and ballet terminology at age appropriate levels. This class will benefit dancers continuing their dance training as well as those who wish to begin.The rigor and pace of the class will increase as the summer progresses.

Summer Jazz/Hip-Hop (Ages 5-8): This class is based on classical jazz dance technique, with influences incorporated from modern jazz, hip-hop, street jazz and Broadway styles. Our Jazz/Hip-Hop class will build balance, extension, and strength through isolations, stretches, across the floor patterns, and dance combinations. This high energy class can be taught to anyone with a passion to move; no previous dance experience is required. However, Ballet classes are strongly recommended when studying Jazz and Hip-Hop to help cultivate a full dance experience.

Dance Attire

All students are required to wear appropriate dance attire, shoes, and hair, as listed by class below.
Street shoes should be worn to and from class. This ensures that the dance shoes and floors won't become damaged. 
For the health and safety of your child we request that they wear a cover up to and from dance class.  

You may shop anywhere you wish, but we can recommend the following stores for your shopping convenience: 
Hair:
Must be secured off the neck and away from the face. Students in ballet class are asked to have hair pinned up in a bun.

Clothing:
Little Learners I and II: Girls must wear solid pink or purple leotards with capped or long-sleeves and pink tights. Individual tutu or skirts may be worn but are not a requirement. Boys should wear a white top with black dance pants.
Ballet Levels I: Girls must wear solid blue or black leotards with pink tights. Skirts may be worn but are not a requirement. Boys should wear a white top with black dance pants.

Shoes:
Little Learners: Girls should wear pink split sole ballet slippers. Boys should wear white or black split sole ballet slippers.
Ballet: Girls should wear pink split sole ballet slippers. Boys should wear white or black split sole ballet slippers.

Curriculum

This program educates dancers in multiple disciplines with an emphasis on proper technique and an appreciation of the art. Our youngest dancers begin by exploring movement, rhythm, spatial awareness and building their own creativity. These concepts create a foundation that we nurture as dancers grow within the program.

Through the years, dancers will be introduced to discipline, specific terminology, body placement and movement that is appropriately challenging for their level. All dancers will be given the opportunity to join each quarter, showing off their development at at the end of each quarter for a studio showcase as well a year end performance for family and friends.
An additional part of every dancer's curriculum is gaining appreciation of the arts through understanding the history, experiencing the art as a spectator and even becoming a part of the creative process through self-expression.

As we educate dancers, our goal is to increase exposure and understanding of the art form, and also give dancers the opportunity to develop friendships, memories and an enhanced sense of self that will last a lifetime.

Class Assessment

During the first two weeks of classes, each child will be assessed to make sure they are in the appropriate class.  At the discretion of the instructor, occasionally a class change may be recommended based on dance proficiency rather than strictly by age.
