The safety of our staff, families, and students is our #1 priority; their health and wellbeing is of utmost importance to our organization. Carolina Dance Collaborative has adopted measures as recommended by the CDC to reduce the spread of COVID-19 where applicable. Please read our protocols below for how we are handling COVID-19, you will be asked to sign the agreement before registering for classes. Those who disregard the following will be asked to leave class.
Sanitation & Temperature Checks:
Hand washing/hand sanitizer will be required upon entering and exiting the building. Hand sanitizer will be available at all times throughout class.
Instructors will sanitize barres and props before and after class
Temperature checks will be taken by the YMCA when coming into the facility. The Carolina Dance Collaborative will be taking temperature checks of each instructor before classes begin as well as parent and student temperatures prior to entering the classroom if a facility does not do this for us.
Student Social Distancing and Masks:
Students will have assigned spots for dancing and their things. These spots will be marked off by tape or square spots on the floor and be more than 6 feet apart.
Masks are not required but highly recommended to and from class and for times when social distancing is less likely. I.e. bathroom breaks, pickup and drop off. Unless government mandated, masks are not required when dancing as teachers will place their students 6 ft apart throughout class.
Masks are not required for parents during drop off and pick up but are also highly recommended. We understand with the beginning of the session this drop off is harder for our younger students. Please read below for more information.
Parent Wait Time During Classes and Interactions with Other Families:
Parents are not allowed inside the classroom during class times and are asked to wait outside the building unless you are a member of the gym and would like to workout during that time (We are adhering to the guidelines set by the YMCA and Anytime Fitness facilities). PLEASE KNOW THAT IF YOU HAVE A YOUNG CHILD YOU ARE MORE THEN WELCOME TO BRING THEM INTO THE CLASSROOM UNTIL THEY ARE COMFORTABLE BEFORE LEAVING. WE ASK THAT YOU TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THE BATHROOM BEFORE CLASS. UPON ENTERING YOUR TEMPERATURE WILL BE CHECKED, PLEASE COME BACK OUT TO OUR DROP OFF ZONE WHEN YOU ARE DONE.
At our Anytime Fitness locationparents are asked to watch from the outside window (you will be able to see your child). Only members of Anytime Fitness are allowed to stay within the facility. When watching from the outside we ask that you maintain 6 feet apart from all other households. You are able to become an Anytime Fitness member with no enrollment fee ($85) and exercise while your child is taking class. Memberships are offered on a month to month basis.
YMCA locations have different policies pertaining to number of students enroll and space within the facility:
George I. Theisen (GIT)> You will be asked to drop off your child at the entrance and can come back after class to pick up your child. There is no viewing window from inside the GIT into the group ex room additionally no common areas are open at this time. At the rear of the building you are able to see into the group ex room from outside. You are absolutely allowed to view your child from outside, just know that the sun shines brightly into the room so only 1 or 2 windows will be available for viewing.
Verdae> Parents will be asked to drop off their child outside the entrance and watch from the outdoor windows lining the studio. When watching from the outside we ask that you maintain 6 feet apart from all other households. There is a wonderful park/playground as well a sand volleyball court that can be used to entertain your other children while waiting for your dancer to finish class.
Caine Halter> You will be asked to drop off your child at the amphitheater space next to the fountain right outside the entrance. Parents cannot watch outside the studio as congregating is not allowed, no common areas are open at this time. The Caine Halter Y, is most concerned with traffic and keeping a close watch on who is entering the building. We apologize that you won't be able to view your little dancers but we will send videos.
Powdersville> parents are allowed to watch outside the studio if you maintain social distancing.
We ask that all people on property practice the CDC guidelines of a 6 ft distance (no handshakes or embraces) in their social interactions with those not in their family. Please be especially mindful of supervising children’s social interactions and their practice of social distancing.
Drop off and pick up procedures will be emailed to all registered students one week before classes begin
Any enrolled student or family member of a student who has symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 must notify Carolina Dance Collaborative staff immediately to inform other exposed students. Said student will not be allowed to participate in taking classes until after he or she self quarantines and is cleared to be no longer contagious by his or her doctor. Online virtual class options will be given for these individuals enrolled, but no refunds will be given.
If either staff or student (or family) tests positive and came to class without knowing, that particular class will move to an online platform for one-two weeks (14 days from when symptoms started for that individual, or 10 days after testing positive). The timeframe of this depends on when the individual came to class as well. If the individual noticed symptoms prior to class and decided not to come then in-person option would remain.
If either the YMCA or Anytime Fitness facilities close due to an increase in COVID cases, classes will move online to a Zoom platform. Refunds will not be given and classes will finish out the session online. We do not for-see this happening again but we must follow the guidelines of the facilities that we hold classes in.
